Lead HVAC Technician Jobs Oklahoma | Geothermal and Mitsubishi

I am looking for one high-level technician. Geothermal and Mitsubishi multi-zone, specifically.

Not an apprentice. Not somebody I need to teach the basics to. I need a journeyman who can walk up to a ClimateMaster loop or a Mitsubishi multi-zone head and know what he is looking at.

I have been on the tools 47 years and I run this company out of Kingfisher. We are IGSHPA accredited on geothermal and a Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer, which means the work that comes through here is not the same work everybody else in Oklahoma is doing. If you already have those skills, they are worth more here than they are almost anywhere in this state.

The short version: $33 to $36 an hour to start, $38 after a good 90 days, $40+ for top performers. Sign-on bonus $1,000 to $10,000. Geothermal experience is worth the most here. Company truck, company-paid licenses and training, 401k matched to 4%, and a real path to ownership after four years.

What this job actually is

Service and installation across our seven daily counties: Kingfisher, Canadian, Oklahoma, Garfield, Major, Logan and Blaine. You will run your own truck and your own calls.

  • Geothermal. Loop pressure, flow, desuperheaters, heat exchangers, full performance audits. ClimateMaster GeoElite work. If you have never touched geo, I will train you, but I am hiring for someone who has.
  • Mitsubishi multi-zone. Diamond Dealer work, including the warranty calls I do not hand to an apprentice.
  • Light commercial. Rooftops, plant work, VFDs. Real diagnostic work, not filter changes.
  • Residential service and replacement. Trane and Amana, standard and high-efficiency.

The work, on my jobs

These are my own Oklahoma jobs. If you have been running calls for years, you already know what you are looking at.

Geothermal in Edmond. Loop pressure, flow and desuperheater work you will not get at a change-out shop.
Ductless mini-split installation on a Hartzell's Heat and Air job in Okarche, Oklahoma
Mitsubishi multi-zone in Okarche. Diamond Dealer work, and the multi-zone calls route to the lead tech.
Hartzell's technician inspecting commercial rooftop HVAC units in Oklahoma
Light commercial rooftop. You will see packaged units and real controls work, not just residential.

Pay

Starting base $33.00 to $36.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications. Roughly $68,640 to $74,880 a year.
After 90 days $38.00 per hour is the goal on a positive review. About $79,040.
Top performers $40.00+ per hour. $83,200 and up.
Sign-on bonus $1,000 to $10,000, tiered on experience and certifications. Paid a third at start, a third at 90 days, a third at 180.
On-call $100 stipend per assigned week, plus your normal rate if you get dispatched.
Overtime Time and a half past 40 hours. Paid weekly, every Tuesday.

Earnings above base

Base pay is not the whole picture here. There are performance-based earnings on top of it, and an annual bonus of 2 to 5 percent of base tied to how the company does and how you do.

The specifics are set by your experience and certifications, and geothermal experience carries the most weight of anything you can bring me. I go through all of it with you in the offer, before you sign anything.

Benefits

  • Health, dental and vision. I pay 80% of your premium. Starts after 90 days.
  • 401k with a 100% match up to the first 4% of your pay. Fully vested at two years.
  • $50,000 company-paid life insurance.
  • PTO accrues from day one, 40 hours front-loaded at 90 days, up to 80 hours carried over.
  • Paid sick time, with 40 hours granted at 180 days.
  • 8 paid holidays.
  • Workman’s comp from day one. Bonded and insured.

What I hand you on day one

  • A company truck. We just put a new one on the road.
  • Tablet and software, with phone number masking so customers do not get your personal cell.
  • All specialized tools. You bring standard hand tools.
  • 10 short-sleeve and 10 long-sleeve shirts a year, plus a $200 annual allowance for work pants.
  • Company credit card for fuel and parts.

Training and where this goes

  • Three company-paid training classes a year. Job related or personal development.
  • I pay your Mechanical License fees and your CEUs.
  • EPA certification: I help you get it and I fund it.
  • Geothermal training is company paid.
  • Two formal reviews a year, spring and fall. Raises are 30% evaluation, 40% job performance, 30% training completion.
  • A four year path to profit sharing and employee ownership. That is a real process here, not a phrase on a wall.

What I need from you

  • Oklahoma Mechanical Journeyman license. This is required for the lead role. If you are an apprentice, I still want to talk, the terms are just different.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver license, and insurable under Federated.
  • EPA certification, or willingness to get it with my help.
  • Geothermal or Mitsubishi multi-zone experience. Either one gets my attention. Both moves you to the top of the list.
  • You write an estimate on every job. Every repair you find gets documented and quoted, whether or not they buy it. The customer decides with the full picture in front of them, and nothing gets hidden or held back.

How I run it

You operate like your own boss. I am not going to stand over you. I want a technician who sees something that needs doing and does it, tells the customer the truth about what he found, and brings me ideas about how to run this place better. When somebody brings me a profitable idea, they get paid on it.

My door is open. You will have my number. We are a no-debt company and I intend to keep it that way, and I am building toward adding electricians and plumbers, which means there is room above this job for somebody who wants it.

Before you start, you and your family come have a meal with my family and the other crews. I would rather you know what you are joining.

Questions I get asked

Do I need geothermal experience to apply?

No, but it is what I am hiring for right now. I train geo and I pay for the training. If you already have loop and desuperheater experience, say so first, because it changes your offer.

How much geothermal work do you actually do?

Enough that we are IGSHPA accredited and it is a real part of the business, not an occasional job. We work geothermal statewide, with daily service across seven counties.

What is the on-call rotation like?

$100 for the assigned week plus your hourly rate when you get called out. How often it comes around depends on crew size.

Is the pay range negotiable?

The starting range is based on experience, a skills assessment and your certifications. The sign-on bonus is where certifications and geothermal experience really move the number.

What does the ownership path mean?

A four year acceptance letter process that opens up real visibility into how the company runs financially, and a path toward employee ownership. It is for people who want to build something, not just clock in.

Call me directly

I would rather talk to you than read a resume. If you have the license and the geo or Mitsubishi background, call and ask for Dave.
