Important: All manufacturer warranties require installation by an authorized dealer. Using a non-authorized installer typically reduces warranty coverage to 5 years or voids it entirely. Hartzell’s is an authorized dealer for all brands we sell.

Standard Installation

1-year labor warranty

All HVAC installations include a 1-year labor warranty covering workmanship issues. If it fails due to how we installed it, we come back and fix it at no charge.

Geothermal Ground Loop

50-year loop warranty

The ground loop (the buried pipe network) carries a 50-year manufacturer warranty from the polyethylene pipe manufacturer. This is standard in geothermal installations and covers the loop against leaks and failures.

Ductwork & Accessories

1-year labor warranty

Ductwork connections, thermostat wiring, and accessory installations are covered by a 1-year labor warranty. Manufacturer warranties on thermostats and accessories apply separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do to activate my warranty?

For equipment Hartzell’s installs, we handle registration. You don’t need to do anything. We submit the registration to the manufacturer within the required timeframe (usually 60–90 days). You should receive a confirmation from the manufacturer. If you don’t receive one within 30 days of your installation, call us and we’ll verify registration.

Does annual maintenance affect my warranty?

Some manufacturers require documented annual maintenance to keep the full warranty in force. This is one reason Dave’s 360 Plan makes financial sense — the maintenance record we create protects your warranty. Even for brands that don’t require it, annual maintenance documentation helps if a warranty dispute ever arises. Always keep your maintenance records.

What does the warranty NOT cover?

Standard manufacturer warranties cover defective parts — they don’t cover: normal wear, filter replacement, refrigerant added due to leaks caused by damage, issues caused by improper use or modifications, pest damage, flood or storm damage, or failures caused by running the system with a dirty filter. Labor for warranty repairs is covered by Hartzell’s 1-year workmanship warranty; after that, the manufacturer covers the part but labor may be at your expense depending on the situation. I have a system installed by another contractor. Can Hartzell’s service it?

Yes. We service all major brands regardless of who installed them. If your system is still under manufacturer warranty, Hartzell’s can often handle warranty repairs as an authorized service dealer. The $111 diagnostic fee applies and is credited toward any repair. Call us with your equipment model and serial number and we’ll confirm warranty status before the visit.
