While you wait

Stay safe until I get there

No heat in winter

Move to a warm interior room. Use a portable electric heater only with plenty of clearance from curtains and bedding. Never use an oven or gas range for heat.

No cooling in summer

Close the blinds, move to the lowest floor, and run fans. Check on elderly neighbors and keep pets cool.

Burning smell or sparks

Turn the system off at the thermostat or breaker and do not try to repair it. What to do in an HVAC emergency

Three kinds of emergency

What I treat as a real emergency

  • Heating emergenciesA furnace that will not ignite, a heat pump locked out, or no heat with the outdoor temperature below freezing. I move these up the list when there are elderly residents, infants, or someone on medical equipment in the house.
  • Cooling emergenciesAn air conditioner not working at all, or not cooling while the house climbs past 90 degrees in an Oklahoma summer. That heat is a health risk for older folks and pets, so do not wait until morning.
  • Electrical concernsA burning smell from the equipment, a breaker that will not stay on, or an electrical fault in the air handler or furnace. Treat these as emergencies because they can turn into fire hazards.

If you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm is going off, get everyone out and call 911 or the gas utility first. Then call me.

Not every failure needs a new system

There is a third option: a rebuild

When an emergency call turns up a failed compressor or a worn-out coil on an older system, replacement is not the only answer. A rebuild replaces the major components, compressor, coil and refrigerant circuit, and runs $3,500 to $5,500 installed, against $15,000 to $30,000 for a full replacement. I will tell you honestly whether your system is worth rebuilding. How a rebuild works · Financing options

Frequently asked

Straight answers

Do you really offer 24/7 emergency HVAC service?

Yes. Call 405-375-4822 any time, nights, weekends and holidays. Emergency calls are prioritized by safety risk and temperature.

My air conditioner is not working tonight. Is that an emergency call?

If the air conditioner is not cooling and the house is climbing past 90 degrees, yes: an after-hours call is $309 flat, $198 dispatch plus $111 diagnostic, non-refundable and not credited toward the repair. If it is holding a safe temperature, a weekday call at $210 saves you $99.

Does emergency service cost more than a regular call?

After hours is $309. A weekday service call is $210. Geothermal is $348 flat and commercial $389 flat, day or night. You know the complete cost before I start any work.

How quickly can you respond?

Response depends on technician availability and call volume. Being based in Kingfisher means I am not driving from OKC or Enid. Call for a current ETA.

What areas do you cover for emergencies?

Kingfisher, Canadian, Oklahoma, Garfield, Major, Logan and Blaine counties, including Watonga, Hennessey, Okarche, Dover, Loyal, Cashion, Edmond, Yukon, Mustang and Piedmont.

What qualifies as an HVAC emergency?

Complete heating or cooling failure in extreme temperatures: no heat in freezing weather, an air conditioner out while the house climbs past 90 degrees, a furnace that will not ignite, a heat pump locked out in freezing weather, or any burning smell from the equipment. If you suspect a gas leak or carbon monoxide, call 911 first. When in doubt, call me. It is better to check than to wait through an unsafe night.

What should I do while I wait for you?

Turn the system off and move to the safest part of the house. In winter, use a warm interior room or a portable electric heater with plenty of clearance from curtains and bedding, never the oven. In summer, close the blinds, go to the lowest floor and run fans. If you smell burning or see sparks, shut it off at the breaker and do not try to repair it yourself.

My furnace quit tonight. Should I call now or wait?

Call 405-375-4822 and tell me what it is doing. If the house is dropping toward freezing, or someone at home is elderly, very young or on medical equipment, that is an after-hours call at $309 flat, $198 dispatch plus $111 diagnostic, not refundable and not credited toward the repair. If the house is still holding a safe temperature, a weekday call at $210 saves you $99. I will tell you which one you are looking at on the phone.
