Running, but not cooling
Same system, two different days. On the left of the cycle the coil is clean and the charge is right, so the air coming out of your register is cold. On the right the outdoor coil is packed or the charge is low, the compressor keeps running, and the air comes back warm. That is the call I run most in July.
What happens when I get there

- Electrical under loadCapacitor microfarads, contactor pitting and coil voltage, compressor amp draw. If the capacitor failed, I check whether the compressor took it out.

Diagnosed right the first time
I spent 12 years at Sammy’s Heat, Air & Sheet Metal in Watonga before I opened Hartzell’s about 15 years ago. Sammy ran a Carrier dealership, and he trained me to diagnose before I ever touched a wrench: find the root cause, not just the symptom, and be straight with the customer about what you found. That is still how I run AC calls in Kingfisher, Hennessey, Watonga, Okarche, Dover, Loyal, Cashion and every town in between.
My techs are paid a percentage of the completed invoice, so they have a personal stake in getting it right the first time, not in guessing wrong and coming back. Every repair carries my 6-month labor guarantee on the part I replaced. Parts carry their manufacturer’s warranty, and I buy parts with a 1-year warranty whenever one is available. If that part or my work on it fails within 6 months, I come back and fix it at no charge. A different part failing, or a leak in a different spot, is a new problem and a regular service call. I work through the system in order: indoor unit first, then outdoor, then electrical and controls.
- Indoor unitEvaporator coil for freeze-up, dirt or damage. Blower motor and wheel: speed, amperage and airflow. Condensate drain for clogs and overflow risk. Filter and return air restriction. Refrigerant line temperatures, supply against return.
- Outdoor unitCondenser coil for dirt, bent fins and blocked airflow. Condenser fan motor and blade, amps and spin. Refrigerant pressures on both the high and low side. Compressor amp draw against its rated value. Electronic leak detection at the coil and fittings.
- Electrical and controlsCapacitor start and run microfarad readings. Contactor pitting, coil voltage and contact gap. Disconnect and breaker, fuse size and heat damage. Thermostat wiring and the call sequence. Safety controls: high pressure, low pressure and the float switch.

Blower motor giving out? Most repair calls end up at the blower sooner or later. Old PSC motors run hot and burn out. You can put the same part back, or step up to a variable-speed ECM motor that runs quieter, uses less power and lasts longer. How much does AC repair cost in Kingfisher, Oklahoma?
The service call is $210 flat: $99 dispatch plus $111 diagnostic. The repair itself is priced in writing before I start, and most common repairs run $150 to $850. The diagnostic is not credited toward the repair.
Why is my AC running but not cooling?

Yes. On an R-22 unit I look at condition and cost of ownership so you can choose between a repair now and a planned replacement later.

What do you check on an AC diagnostic?
The indoor coil, blower, drain, filter and line temperatures; the outdoor coil, fan, refrigerant pressures, compressor amps and leaks; and the capacitor, contactor, breaker, thermostat wiring and safety controls.
Should I replace my blower motor with an ECM?
If the old PSC motor failed, an ECM variable-speed upgrade runs quieter and lasts longer. It is $2,304 to $2,438 installed against $2,187 for a standard PSC motor.
