Cimarron Electric or the City of Kingfisher, and it matters
Kingfisher County runs on two different electric providers, and which one you are on changes what rebates you can get. Inside the Kingfisher city limits most homes are on the City of Kingfisher municipal utility, which belongs to the OMPA WISE program. Out in the county you are most likely a Cimarron Electric Cooperative member. Cimarron does not serve every ZIP the same way, and a single ZIP code can hold both. That is why the first thing I ask is not your address, it is whose name is on your electric bill.

What changed on new equipment
New systems now ship with R-454B or R-32 instead of R-410A. Both are mildly flammable A2L refrigerants, both cost meaningfully more per pound than R-410A did, and both need the right recovery equipment and handling. I stock and work on both, and I will tell you which one your new system uses before you buy it.
On an older R-410A or R-22 system the question is usually whether to keep repairing it. I look at age, the failure and what else is tired, then tell you what I would do if it were my house. Hard water is what kills them here
Oklahoma hard water runs about 15 to 25 grains per gallon across my service area. That sediment settles in the bottom of the tank, insulates the burner or the element from the water it is supposed to heat, and shortens the life of the whole thing. The credentials, and what they are for
I am Dave Hartzell. I started in this trade at sixteen and a half working for my dad, which puts me at 47 years, and I have run my own shop in Kingfisher for 15+ years. I am not a franchise and I am not a call center. When I say I will look at it, I am the one looking at it.
How Kingfisher County started
On April 22, 1889 a pistol fired at noon and thousands of people ran across the line in the Oklahoma Land Run. Kingfisher County was born that afternoon, and it was not even called Kingfisher at first. It was County Five. On August 5, 1890 voters picked the name Kingfisher over Hennessey and Harrison in a public election.
The Chisholm Trail ran through this county, not as a tourist attraction but as the working highway that moved Texas longhorns north to the Kansas railheads between 1867 and 1884. The freight route came through the Kingfisher Stage Station, which sat on what is now downtown Kingfisher. My shop is on South Main. That ground had cattle drovers camped on it 140 years ago.
On July 6, 1874 a freighter named Pat Hennessey was killed near the Kingfisher and Garfield county line, and the town of Hennessey carries his name. Sam Walton was born in Kingfisher on March 29, 1918. W.C. Coleman sold his first lantern here in 1903, and that is where the Coleman Company started. Volga German families settled this county too, and their names are still on the mailboxes I pull up to.
