There is a buyout at the end of the ten years. Zero dollars upfront never means you own it along the way, and I will not let anybody tell you different. The buyout is figured the way Palmetto’s calculator figures it, and I will show you that number before you sign.
The agreement controls what is included, excluded, renewed, bought out, or serviced. I will walk through the written terms line by line before you sign anything.
Who it fits, and who it does not
It fits you if you want the premium system without writing a $25,000 to $40,000 check, if you plan to stay in the house, and if you would rather have one predictable payment that carries the service with it.
It does not fit you if you want to own the equipment outright from day one, if you are planning to sell soon, or if you would rather pay cash and be done. Those are real answers, and I will tell you when buying is the better move for your house.
On taxes, here is the plain version. Through third-party ownership, Palmetto can monetize available tax credits and apply that value to the customer’s benefit. You do not claim anything on your own return for leased equipment. Utility and co-op rebates are a different thing: those stay with you as the account holder, and I will help you file for one if your utility has a program. I will be straight with you: geothermal is not the budget option, and I will not pretend it is. It is the premium system, the one I would put in my own house. The lease does not change what you get. It changes when you pay for it.
Moving heat is far cheaper than making it.
A furnace burns something to make heat. A geothermal heat pump moves heat that is already sitting under your yard, and moving heat is far cheaper than making it.
Not a brochure promise. Physics, doing the same thing it has done since before Oklahoma was a state. How much it shows up at your meter depends on your house and what you heat with now, so I will look at your system and your bills and tell you what to expect.

Can I buy the system instead of leasing it?

If we start now, the loop work and the install still fit before Thanksgiving, where the schedule allows. Geothermal takes longer than swapping a furnace because the loop goes in first, so the earlier I see the property, the easier it is to hold a date.
