Old town, original duct, modern equipment
El Reno predates most of the metro suburbs by decades, and a lot of the housing near the centre of town was built before central air was a normal thing to have. The duct in those houses was added later, and in plenty of cases it has never been resized for the equipment now hanging off it.
- Undersized returnsThe classic symptom is a system that cools the room the thermostat is in and nothing else. That is airflow, not tonnage, and a bigger unit makes it worse rather than better.

What is safe to check, and what is not
Before I get there, there are a few things worth knowing, and they are the same whether you are in El Reno or anywhere else I work.

- What I will not ask you to doOpen an energised panel, touch a capacitor, bypass a safety, add refrigerant or work on a gas valve. That is licensed work for a reason.
Who covers what, and for how long
Two different warranties get muddled constantly, so here is the plain version. My labor is mine: every repair carries a six month labor guarantee, and every system I install carries one year on parts and labor. If the same problem comes back inside that window, I come back and there is no charge for it.
The manufacturer warranty is separate and it belongs to them, not to me. A Trane system registered at install carries twelve years on the compressor and ten on parts through the TCS SELECT program. A Mitsubishi system installed by a Diamond Dealer in a single-family home and registered inside ninety days carries twelve years on parts and twelve on the compressor; without that registration it drops to five years on parts and seven on the compressor. Manufacturer coverage does not include labor, which is exactly why I register every system the day it goes in rather than leaving that to you.
A Route 66 town that kept its old houses
El Reno has been there since the land run era and spent most of the last century as a working railroad and highway town rather than a commuter suburb. Route 66 runs through it and so does the history: the downtown is largely intact, and so is a great deal of the housing around it.
That is why my service calls here look different from ones in Yukon or Mustang twenty minutes away. In a 1990s subdivision I am usually looking at an attic air handler and leaky flex. In El Reno I am as often in a crawlspace under a house older than anyone living in it, looking at duct that was retro-fitted decades ago. Canadian County is on my daily route either way.

Nearly always airflow rather than capacity. Undersized returns, leaky or disconnected duct in a crawlspace, or a run that is simply too long for the static pressure available. Measuring static pressure answers it quickly, and it is a far cheaper answer than a bigger system that will not fix it.
Are there rebates for HVAC in El Reno?

Can you work on a house with the original ductwork?
Yes, and I would rather look at the duct before selling you equipment. Sometimes sealing and resizing returns fixes the complaint for a fraction of a replacement. Sometimes the duct genuinely needs replacing, and I will show you the static pressure readings that say so.
What does a service call cost in El Reno?
