Trane: 10-year parts, 12-year compressor on top models
Register within 60 days; my post-install email sends you the link. The 12-year compressor covers WeatherGuard and variable-speed models. Trane’s 100% Performance Guarantee is available only through Comfort Specialist dealers.
RunTru, Carrier, ACiQ: 10-year parts
You register after the install and my post-install email sends the link. Mitsubishi: 12 years on parts and compressor when I install it as a Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer on a single-family home with the original owner living in it and you register it inside 90 days. Without that it is 5 years parts, 7 years compressor. ClimateMaster: 5-year base, 10-year parts and labor extended plan.
My labor warranty
Two years on geothermal and on Trane systems rated 17 SEER and up (16 SEER2 and up), and one year on everything else. Parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty. Most manufacturer warranties transfer to a new homeowner within 30 to 90 days of the sale.

The $5,000 rule, and the honest answer
Multiply the repair cost by the system age. Above $5,000, replacement usually wins. Replace when the repair tops half the cost of a new system, it is past 12 to 15 years, it uses R-22, it has had repeat repairs, or the compressor or heat exchanger failed. I do not push replacement to make a sale.

Refrigerant, ductwork and code
Refrigerant. New systems now run on the lower-GWP A2L refrigerants: Trane and RunTru use R-454B, and some brands such as Goodman and Amana use R-32. A2L refrigerants are mildly flammable, so the equipment comes with leak detection and has to be installed to the manufacturer’s rules. R-22 has not gone into new residential equipment since 2010. When I pull an old system, the refrigerant is recovered into certified cylinders under EPA Section 608, never vented.
Ductwork. A new system on bad ductwork is still a bad system. I measure total external static pressure with a manometer, check the return size (a good rule is about 2 square feet of return grille per ton), and look at the trunk, flex runs and dampers. If the ducts are fine, I say so and you keep them. If they are choking the system, I size the fix by Manual D and quote it separately, up front.
Code and permits. Every replacement is sized by Manual J, the equipment matched by Manual S, and ductwork by Manual D. I pull the permit where your city requires one and install to the mechanical and electrical codes your inspector enforces.

How much does HVAC system replacement cost in Oklahoma?
A standard AC and gas furnace replacement runs $7,500 to $12,500 installed in central Oklahoma. High-efficiency systems run $11,000 to $17,000, heat pumps $8,000 to $14,000, dual fuel $12,000 to $20,000, and geothermal $18,000 to $35,000.
How long does HVAC replacement take?
Most residential replacements take 4 to 8 hours and are done in one day. Attic air handlers, significant ductwork or geothermal can take 1 to 2 days.
When should I replace instead of repair?

What brands does Hartzell’s install?

Do you offer financing?
Yes, through five lenders: Synchrony (up to 18 months at 0%), Wells Fargo, Wisetack (soft credit pull to check), Klarna (4 interest-free payments over 6 weeks) and JB Financing (30+ lenders, scores as low as 590). Subject to credit approval.
Are there rebates on a new system?
Some Oklahoma utilities and co-ops pay rebates on heat pumps and geothermal, and programs change by year. Tell me your ZIP code and electric utility, and I check the current program before I quote an amount.
What refrigerant does a new AC or heat pump use?
New systems use A2L refrigerants. Trane and RunTru use R-454B; some other brands use R-32. R-22 has not gone into new residential equipment since 2010.
Will I need new ductwork with a new system?
Not always. I measure static pressure and check the return and duct runs. If they are fine you keep them; if they are choking the system I quote the fix separately, up front.
Do you pull the permit for an HVAC replacement?
Yes, where the city requires one, and every replacement is sized by Manual J with the equipment matched by Manual S.
What happens to my old HVAC equipment?
The refrigerant is recovered under EPA Section 608, the metal is sorted for scrap, and old mercury thermostats are recycled. I haul it all away.
