A mini-split is an outdoor heat pump and one or more indoor heads on the wall, ceiling or a recessed cassette, joined by a small refrigerant line through a 3-inch hole. Each head runs on its own. They cool in summer and heat in winter.

Why I push Mitsubishi for most installs
Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat units keep heating down to minus 13 F. Standard mini-splits drop off below about 17 F. Most Oklahoma days that does not matter, but when January hits single digits you want your shop still heating. I have Mitsubishi systems I installed in 2014 still running on original equipment.

What a mini-split actually is
A ductless mini-split has two parts: an outdoor heat pump condenser and one or more indoor air handlers mounted on the wall, the ceiling, or in a recessed cassette. They connect with a small refrigerant line through a 3-inch hole in the wall. No ductwork. Each indoor head has its own thermostat and runs on its own, and the whole system cools in summer and heats in winter, the same as a regular heat pump.

How much does mini-split installation cost in Kingfisher, Oklahoma?

Will a mini-split heat my shop in winter?
Yes, if it is sized right and it is a Hyper-Heat model. Hyper-Heat works to minus 13 F. Standard mini-splits drop off below about 17 F. For a detached Kingfisher shop or garage, Hyper-Heat is what I recommend.
How big a mini-split do I need for my garage or shop?
Roughly 18,000 BTU for a 2-car detached shop, 24,000 BTU for a 3-car or insulated workshop, and 9,000 to 12,000 BTU for a single-car garage or small office. Insulation changes it a lot, so I do a load calc on every install.
How long does installation take?
Single zone: one day. Two zones: a day and a half. Whole-house 3 to 5 zones: 2 to 3 days.
Can a mini-split cool my whole house?
Yes. One outdoor unit driving 3 to 5 indoor heads can heat and cool a 1,500 to 2,500 square foot home, with a thermostat in every room. It costs more up front than central air, but there is no ductwork to build and you get room-by-room control.
Are there rebates on a mini-split?
Some Oklahoma utilities run rebates on qualifying mini-splits, and they change by program and date. Tell me your ZIP code and electric utility, and Dave or Shelby will check the current program before quoting an amount.
