HVAC Warranties | Hartzell’s Heat & Air
Every repair carries my 6-Month Labor Guarantee on the part I replaced, and every system I install carries my installation labor warranty: 2 years on geothermal and on Trane systems rated 17 SEER (16 SEER2) and up, 1 year on everything else. Parts carry their manufacturer’s warranty, and I buy parts with a 1-year warranty whenever one is available. If that part or my work on it fails within 6 months, I come back and fix it at no charge. A different part failing, or a leak in a different spot, is a new problem and a regular service call. My post-install email sends you the link to register your equipment with the manufacturer. Manufacturer warranties require authorized dealer installation and product registration inside the manufacturer’s window (60 days for Trane, 90 for Mitsubishi). Hartzell’s is an authorized dealer for all brands I install, and my post-install email sends you the registration link after every installation.

Important: All manufacturer warranties require installation by an authorized dealer. Using a non-authorized installer typically reduces warranty coverage to 5 years or voids it entirely. Hartzell’s is an authorized dealer for all brands I sell.

Beyond the manufacturer warranty on equipment, Hartzell’s warranties our installation work. If something I installed fails due to my workmanship, I fix it. No argument, no runaround.
Standard Installation
2-year labor warranty: Trane 17 SEER and up, and geothermal
Trane systems rated 17 SEER and up (16 SEER2 and up) and every geothermal system carry my 2-year labor warranty on workmanship. Non-Trane equipment and Trane 14 and 15 SEER carry 1 year. If it fails due to how I installed it, I come back and fix it at no charge.
Geothermal Ground Loop
50-year loop warranty
The ground loop (the buried pipe network) carries a 50-year manufacturer warranty from the polyethylene pipe manufacturer. This is standard in geothermal installations and covers the loop against leaks and failures.
Ductwork & Accessories
1-year labor warranty
Ductwork connections, thermostat wiring, and accessory installations are covered by a 1-year labor warranty. Manufacturer warranties on thermostats and accessories apply separately.

Trane’s base limited warranty is 5 years on parts in most cases. Registered within 60 days of installation, it is 10 years in most cases. Parts that fail from anything other than a manufacturer defect are not covered, and labor is not covered by either one.

Hartzell’s is an authorized JB Warranties dealer, the nation’s largest HVAC extended service plan administrator. No deductibles, transferable to new homeowners, and fast claims reimbursement.
When I install a new system, I always offer a JB Warranties plan. It’s the one extended warranty I’m comfortable recommending, claims pay fast, the coverage is real, and there’s no deductible per repair. You pick the years; I handle the enrollment.

How to Register Your Trane Equipment
If I installed it, my post-install email has the link to register it, and the registration is yours to complete inside the window. If someone else installed it, or you just bought the house, here is how to do it yourself.
- Find the model and serial number on the data plate of the outdoor unit and on the furnace or air handler inside. Take a photo of each.
- Have the install date, the install address and the name of the company that installed it.
- Go to Trane’s warranty and registration page and choose to register a new product, or call Trane’s registration line at 1-855-956-5685.
- Register each piece. The outdoor unit and the indoor unit are separate products.
- Keep the confirmation with your invoice. That paper is what makes a claim go fast.
You have 60 days from the install date. Miss it and the equipment stays on the 5-year base warranty.
Selling Your House? The Trane Warranty Can Go With It
- The registered warranty can transfer to the new owner if the equipment was registered after August 1, 2011.
- The transfer has to be done within 90 days of the sale. Trane charges a one-time $99 fee, paid by card at 1-855-956-5685.
- If nobody transfers it, the 5-year base warranty still stays with the equipment.
