What happens when I get to your house
- The simple things firstThermostat, filter, breaker and the outdoor disconnect. I do not open the equipment until those are ruled out.
- Electrical under loadCapacitor microfarads, contactor condition and compressor amp draw. If the capacitor failed I check what killed it.
- Refrigerant on gaugesSuperheat and subcooling against the manufacturer’s spec. A leak gets found and repaired under EPA Section 608 rules, not topped off.
- Airflow and coilsStatic pressure, blower speed and amps, and the condition of both coils.
- A written price, then you decideYou get the number before I pick up a tool, and the diagnostic is not credited toward it.
What you get either way
If you smell gas, or a carbon monoxide alarm goes off, leave the house first and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. Then call me. That comes before any troubleshooting I could talk you through.

Alpha and Omega, a few sections apart
Omega is named for the last letter of the Greek alphabet, and a few miles away there was a community called Alpha, named for the first. Alpha is a ghost town now. Omega is still here: a crossroads with farm ground around it and families who have worked this land a long time. It is the kind of place that does not appear on a service map unless somebody actually drives out.

$210 flat: $99 dispatch plus $111 diagnostic. After hours is $309. The $111 is not credited toward the repair.
Will you have the part, or is it a second trip?
