What nothing down does and does not mean
I would rather you hear the honest shape of this from me than find it in paragraph nine of a contract.
The rebate still comes to you
This is the part people get wrong. The federal credit and your utility rebate are two different animals. Palmetto claims the federal side. Utility, state and local programs go to the homeowner in almost every case, unless a particular program pays whoever owns the equipment. You can file yourself or I can help you file. What I will not do is subtract a rebate from your payment to make the number look better, because that is not how it works.
No desuperheater, no rebate
A desuperheater takes waste heat off the compressor and puts it into your domestic hot water. On the rebate side it is not an upsell, it is an eligibility part. Leave it out and the rebate is gone, so it is a design decision that has to happen before the quote. Say the rebate matters to you and I build it in from the start. Before you take a geothermal bid from anybody, mine included, ask whether it is in there.
There is a minimum efficiency line too, EER 17.1 or EER2 16.36 on the AHRI certificate, and the equipment I quote meets it. What a desuperheater is and what it does.

Does nothing down mean I own the system?
No. Palmetto owns the equipment during the term and there is a buyout at the end of the ten years. Nothing down is about how the job starts, not about whose name is on the equipment.
Do I still get my utility rebate on a $0 down system?
In almost every case, yes. Palmetto claims the federal side and leaves utility, state and local programs to the homeowner, unless the program specifically pays whoever owns the equipment. I check your utility’s current official program before anybody quotes an amount, and I can help you file or you can file yourself.
What does up to $800 per cooling ton mean?
It is a ceiling, not a flat payment. Member municipal towns choose their own level and the program matches up to that amount on a qualifying geothermal heat pump. Kingfisher, Okeene, Watonga and Edmond are member towns, though being a member and running the rebate at a given level are two different things, so I confirm it per customer before I quote.
Why does the desuperheater matter for the rebate?
On the rebate side it is an eligibility part, not an upsell. The system has to have an operating desuperheater or integrated water heater to qualify. Leave it out and the rebate is gone, so it has to be a design decision before the quote, not an add-on after.
Is the Comfort Plan a loan?
No. It is a lease with a buyout at the end of the ten years. I will not call it zero percent financing, because a lease and a loan are different things and the difference matters at tax time.

Can I still have geothermal installed before Thanksgiving?
If we start now, the loop work and the install still fit before Thanksgiving, where the schedule allows. Geothermal takes longer than swapping a furnace because the loop goes in first, so the earlier I see the property, the easier it is to hold a date. I will tell you straight what is realistic once I look at the project.
