What We Do During Your Geothermal Service Visit

Every visit follows IGSHPA and ASHRAE-recommended practices for ground source heat pump systems. Our technicians are trained specifically on geothermal equipment — not just conventional HVAC.

Indoor Heat Pump Unit

  • Verify operation in heating and cooling modes
  • Entering/leaving water temperatures (Delta T)
  • Air temperature differential across the coil
  • Inspect and clean evaporator and condenser coils
  • Refrigerant charge, superheat, and subcooling
  • Capacitors and compressor amp draw
  • Electrical connections — tighten and measure
  • Lubricate motors, inspect belts
  • Thermostat calibration and staging
  • Condensate drain and pan
  • Air filter check and replacement
  • Airflow verification

Ground Loop System

  • Loop pressure check and leak inspection
  • Loop fluid (antifreeze) quality and levels
  • Circulating pump amp draw and flow rate
  • Entering/leaving water temp verification
  • Repressurization available as add-on (included in Geo 360)

Desuperheater (if equipped)

  • Pump operation and flow verification
  • Hot water temperature output
  • Leak inspection at all fittings
  • Heat exchanger flush if mineral buildup suspected
  • Included in Geo Plus and Geo 360 plans

System Performance Report

  • COP calculation (loop-side and air-side readings)
  • Written health report with all documented readings
  • Honest repair recommendations

Geothermal Maintenance Plan Questions

What is the difference between Geo Basic, Geo Plus, and Geo 360?

Geo Basic ($360/yr) covers one annual visit with 10% repair discount. Geo Plus ($428/yr) adds a second visit (spring and fall) with 15% repair discount. Geo 360 ($499/yr) includes two visits, 20% repair discount, and loop repressurization — the most comprehensive plan for owners who want everything handled.

Do geothermal systems need specialized maintenance?

Yes. Geothermal systems have components most HVAC technicians miss: loop pressure, loop fluid antifreeze concentration, COP verification, desuperheater flow, and reversing valve operation. Dave is IGSHPA Accredited — the geothermal industry’s professional credential — which most Oklahoma contractors don’t hold.

Does the $99 dispatch fee apply to Geo PMA members?

Yes. The $99 dispatch fee is waived for your included annual maintenance visit. Repair calls outside your plan are subject to the standard $99 dispatch fee. Plan benefits are included annual geo maintenance visits, loop monitoring, and priority scheduling — your call moves ahead of non-members during peak demand periods.

What does loop repressurization involve and when is it needed?

Loops slowly lose pressure over time through micro-permeation — not a leak, just normal diffusion. When loop pressure drops below spec, the system runs less efficiently and can fault. Repressurization restores the closed-loop pressure. The Geo 360 plan includes this service; Basic and Plus members get it at the discounted repair rate.
