ClimateMaster Geothermal Systems — Service, ROI & Maintenance
I’m a ClimateMaster GeoElite Dealer and IGSHPA Accredited installer. Geothermal can be a game-changer for comfort and operating cost — but it isn’t right for every home or every budget. On this page, I’ll show you what an install actually involves, what the ROI math looks like with honest numbers, and what ongoing maintenance your system needs to keep the warranty intact.
The longer a failing system runs, the more it costs to fix. One call now — 405-375-4822 — and we’ll get you on the schedule. Or chat with us in the corner if you have questions first.

Quick summary: Geothermal uses the earth’s steady underground temperature to move heat — instead of fighting outdoor air like a conventional heat pump. Installed cost typically ranges $15,000–$25,000+ depending on loop type and system size. ROI varies significantly based on your home’s energy use and local soil. We show you real scenarios before you decide.

What We Do — From Site Visit to Running System
Every ClimateMaster installation starts with a Geo Diagnostic — not a sales pitch. We assess your property, calculate your load, and design a loop field before recommending any equipment.
✓ Site Consult & Load Calc
We calculate your home’s actual heating and cooling load — not a rule of thumb. Determines the right system size and loop length before we quote anything.
✓ Loop Field Design
Horizontal loops for properties with yard space; vertical bores where space is limited. We coordinate drilling or excavation with statewide partners as needed.
✓ OEM-Compliant Install
ClimateMaster unit selection, electrical and duct tie-ins, startup commissioning, and OEM warranty registration — all required to activate the 10-year manufacturer warranty.
✓ Geo PMA Enrollment
Annual Geo PMA keeps your system documented and your warranty protected. Priority scheduling, loop testing, performance logging every year.
What the Install Involves — Common Customer Questions
- Loop type: Horizontal (open trench, needs yard space), vertical bore (minimal surface disruption, higher cost), or diagonal borehole.
- Excavation or drilling & header manifolds: Depends on loop type and soil. We coordinate the ground work — you don’t manage two contractors.
- Ground-loop pressure/leak testing: Done before backfill. We provide documented test results — not just a verbal “looks good.”
- ClimateMaster unit options: Single-stage (most affordable) or variable-speed (best efficiency and comfort). Sized to your load, not the last job we did.
- Buffer tank: Required on some variable-speed configurations for optimal staging.
- Antifreeze charge: Required in northern Oklahoma applications where loop temp could drop below freezing.
- Electrical disconnect & breaker: Geo units draw significant amperage — proper sizing and a dedicated circuit are required.
- Thermostat/controls & commissioning: System commissioned to OEM spec, performance verified before we leave.
- OEM warranty registration: Done at startup. Missed registration = voided warranty. We do it every time.
Exclusions: Major foundation remediation, exotic plumbing or electrical beyond the stated scope. These appear as separate line items if applicable — never hidden in a lump-sum quote.
ROI Scenarios — Honest Numbers, Not Best-Case
Your actual savings depend on your electric rate, your home’s heating/cooling load, insulation quality, and loop cost. The table below uses a conservative baseline of $2,400/yr in HVAC electricity and shows simple payback at three savings levels. This is a planning tool — not a promise.
| Installed Cost | 30% savings ($720/yr) |
45% savings ($1,080/yr) |
60% savings ($1,440/yr) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $15,000 | 20.8 yr payback 25-yr net: +$3,000 |
13.9 yr payback 25-yr net: +$12,000 |
10.4 yr payback 25-yr net: +$21,000 |
| $20,000 | 27.8 yr payback 25-yr net: ‑$2,000 |
18.5 yr payback 25-yr net: +$7,000 |
13.9 yr payback 25-yr net: +$16,000 |
| $25,000 | 34.7 yr payback 25-yr net: ‑$7,000 |
23.1 yr payback 25-yr net: +$2,000 |
17.4 yr payback 25-yr net: +$11,000 |
Assumptions: $2,400/yr baseline HVAC electricity; savings rate varies by insulation, usage, and system efficiency; 25-year lifecycle; no rebates applied. Red cells = 25-yr net savings don’t cover install cost at this scenario. Your actual estimate requires a site visit and load study.
The cells in red are there on purpose. A $25,000 install at 30% savings doesn’t break even in 25 years — and you deserve to know that going in. Utility rebates (if you’re in a qualifying territory) can significantly change these numbers. See current Oklahoma rebates ›
What Doesn’t Show Up in the Energy Savings Column
Energy payback is only part of the picture. Homeowners who own geothermal systems often cite these benefits as equally important:
- Steadier comfort — geothermal doesn’t fight extreme outdoor temperatures, so it keeps indoor temps more even
- Quieter operation — no outdoor compressor running at 85°F in July
- Longer equipment life — the indoor unit is protected from weather; loops have a 25-50 year life expectancy
- Fewer outdoor mechanical failure points — no coil freezing, no outdoor fan motor burnout
- Better zoning options — variable-speed geo units support multi-zone configurations well
- Resale interest — in some Oklahoma markets, geothermal is a selling point for energy-conscious buyers

Buyer Checklist — What to Verify Before You Sign
Geothermal is a 25+ year investment. Here’s what to confirm before you commit to any installer:
- ☑ Get soil/loop cost estimates separately — don’t accept a vague “loop included” line
- ☑ Require written exclusions — what’s NOT included in the quoted price
- ☑ Insist on OEM-compliant commissioning and documented loop pressure test results
- ☑ Confirm warranty registration is completed at startup
- ☑ Enroll in a Geo PMA in year one to protect your manufacturer warranty
- ☑ Don’t buy on “starting at” price alone — compare scope line by line
- ☑ Ask about utility rebates — but only accept verified, dated quotes, not promises
Rebates & Financing
The federal Section 25D geothermal tax credit expired 12/31/2025 — Oklahoma utility rebates remain fully active in 2026:

- OG&E: $1,000/ton geothermal
- PSO: $1,400 flat or $350/$525/ton
- Cimarron Electric / KPWA: Kingfisher area rebates confirmed
- OEC: $400–$700/ton geothermal
Note: Kingfisher County is NOT in CKenergy territory. We verify your utility territory during the Geo Diagnostic. Full rebate details ›
