Hartzell’s Heat & Air is my family business, and I believe in growing my crew from the ground up. My Internship & Apprenticeship Program gives you real, hands-on experience in the HVAC trade, working side by side with my licensed technicians on actual job sites throughout Central Oklahoma. No experience needed. Just a good work ethic and a willingness to learn.
Program Overview
- Type: Paid, hands-on internship with path to full apprenticeship
- Duration: Flexible, I work with your schedule
- Location: Kingfisher, OK and job sites within 60 miles
- Registration: Apprentices are registered with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board (CIB) as required by state law
- Hours Tracked: On-the-job hours are documented toward your 2,000-hour Oklahoma apprenticeship requirement
What You’ll Learn
You’ll train on real jobs, not in a classroom. My interns ride along with my licensed technicians and learn by doing.
- Heating SystemsFurnace installation, repair, diagnostics, and gas line safety
- Cooling SystemsAir conditioning installation, charging, and troubleshooting
- Ductwork & Sheet MetalCustom ductwork fabrication, fitting, and installation
- Electrical FundamentalsWiring, controls, capacitors, contactors, and safety
- Refrigerant HandlingProper procedures, EPA guidelines, and safety protocols
- System DiagnosticsUsing meters, gauges, and tools to diagnose problems
- Maintenance & Tune-UpsPerforming seasonal checkups and preventive maintenance
- Blueprint ReadingUnderstanding plans and specifications for installations
- Customer CommunicationHow to talk to homeowners and explain the work professionally

Who can apply for the Hartzell’s HVAC Internship Program?
Anyone serious about learning the trade. High school graduates, career changers, military veterans. No prior HVAC experience required. Reliable transportation and a willingness to show up are non-negotiable.
Is the HVAC internship paid?
Yes. Starting hourly pay during the internship, with raises as you pick up skills and certifications. Tools and uniforms provided after the trial period.
How long does the internship last?
Typically 6 to 12 months depending on how fast you progress. Goal is to move you to full-time installer or service tech with EPA 608 certification by the end.
Will Hartzell’s pay for EPA 608 and NATE certification?
Yes. I cover EPA 608 testing for interns who stick with the program. NATE certification gets covered for techs who commit to the long haul.
