HVAC Technician Opportunity in Enid & Garfield County
Now Recruiting, Enid & Garfield County HVAC Territory
I’m looking for one person in the Enid area who’s tired of building someone else’s business.
I’m Dave Hartzell. I’ve been doing HVAC in central Oklahoma for 45 years and running Hartzell’s Heat & Air out of Kingfisher for 15+ years. I have more demand in Enid and Garfield County than I can cover from here. So I’m not hiring a tech, I’m looking for a partner who wants to build their own territory under a brand that already has 4.8 stars and 276 reviews behind it.
This is not a W-2 job. There’s no HR department, no performance review cycle, no begging for a raise. It’s a revenue-share partnership. If that sounds interesting, keep reading.
What This Is
You run the Enid territory under the Hartzell’s brand. I set you up with everything you need to work. You bring the local presence, the community connections, and the drive to build something. We split the revenue. You grow your income by growing your territory, not by waiting for someone to promote you.
Starting split: 40% to you / 60% to me when I’m providing the truck and tools. That moves upward as you prove out the territory. Year 2 we renegotiate based on what you’ve built.
What I Provide
- Brand and reputation: Hartzell’s Heat & Air, 4.8 stars / 276 Google reviews, established in central Oklahoma for 15+ years. You’re not starting from zero.
- Truck and tools: Fully equipped service vehicle, approximately $18,000-$25,000 in value. You show up ready to work on day one.
- HCP scheduling platform: Dispatch, job tracking, invoicing, and customer history, all handled through our system. You focus on the work, not the paperwork.
- Parts sourcing: I have supplier relationships and accounts. You’re not hunting down parts or paying retail.
- 45 years of backup: Stumped on a diagnosis? Call me. I’ve seen almost everything. You get a mentor, not a boss.
- Marketing: The website, Google Ads, and Google Business Profile are already working. Enid-area leads come to you.
What You Bring
- EPA 608 certification (required, non-negotiable)
- 5+ years hands-on HVAC experience, repair, service, install. You can diagnose a system without walking you through it.
- Community roots in the Enid area. You know people. People know you.
- A self-starter mindset. I’m not interested in someone who waits for the phone to ring.
- Your own labor: a helper or second tech you can call when the job needs two people.
What the Money Looks Like
A realistic starting example:
- 10 service calls per week
- Average ticket: $210
- Weekly gross: $2,100
- Your 40%: $840/week
- Annualized: $43,680/year to start
That’s a floor, not a ceiling. A tech who builds relationships and grows a customer base in Enid can do significantly better. Maintenance plan signups, installs, and commercial accounts all move the number up. Year 2 we renegotiate based on what you’ve actually built.
The First Question I’ll Ask You
Before anything else, I want to know: “If I set you up with a truck and territory tomorrow, what’s your plan to get your first 20 customers?”
If your answer is some version of “wait for calls to come in,” this isn’t the right fit. I need someone who already has a mental list of people they’d call, doors they’d knock, and relationships they’d activate. The brand and the marketing give you a tailwind, but you’re the one who has to put the work in first.
If you already have a plan forming in your head right now, that’s the sign.
The Profile I’m Looking For
- EPA 608 certified
- 5+ years HVAC experience (residential service and repair)
- Lives in or near Enid, Garfield County, this is your home turf, not a commute
- Owns a home (shows stability and community investment)
- Can name 30+ people right now who would call you personally for HVAC work
- Has access to a helper, someone you trust who can assist on bigger jobs
- Wants to build something, not just collect a paycheck
I’m not looking for the most credentialed tech in Enid. I’m looking for the most connected one, someone with roots, reputation, and the drive to turn a market opportunity into an income that grows year over year.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a job or a business?
It’s structured as a revenue-share partnership, not traditional employment. You’re running your own territory under the Hartzell’s brand. That means more upside than a W-2 job, and more responsibility too. You’re not an employee waiting to be told what to do, you’re building a customer base in your own backyard.
What does the 40/60 revenue split cover?
The 60% to Dave covers the truck, tools, parts sourcing, scheduling platform, marketing, insurance on the equipment, and brand support. As you build volume and prove the territory, that split is renegotiated. Year 2 we sit down and look at what you’ve actually built, and the numbers move in your favor.
Do I need to be licensed in Oklahoma?
EPA 608 is required. Oklahoma state HVAC licensing rules apply. If you’re operating under Hartzell’s master license, we’ll work through the specifics together. If you have your own journeyman or contractor license, even better, tell me that upfront.
How do I apply?
There’s no application form. Call Dave directly at 405-375-4822. Have an answer ready for the first question: “If I set you up with a truck and territory tomorrow, what’s your plan to get your first 20 customers?” That conversation tells me everything I need to know.
