HVAC Service in Loyal, Oklahoma | Hartzell’s Heat & Air
Loyal used to be called Kiel. German settlers named it after their home city and built farms here in Kingfisher County after the 1889 Land Run. When World War I came, they renamed the whole town “Loyal” to show where their hearts were. That story stuck with me when I first heard it. I’m Dave Hartzell, and I’ve been running HVAC calls in Kingfisher County for 15+ years. Loyal is farm country I know well. Call 405-375-4822.

Loyal, Oklahoma: A Town That Renamed Itself
The original settlers here were Volga Germans, people who had lived on the Russian steppes before emigrating to America. They came to Kingfisher County after the 1889 Land Run and named their town Kiel, after the city back in Germany. They were farmers, and they built this community from the ground up on Oklahoma clay. Around 70 or 80 people still call it home today.
When World War I started, anti-German sentiment ran hard across the country. These families had been here for decades by then, fully American. They didn’t wait to be told. They went to the post office and changed the name of their entire community to Loyal, to make clear where they stood. That’s not a small thing. That’s a town that put something on the line.
Out here, propane is common and systems tend to be older. People in Loyal don’t replace equipment on a schedule. They keep it running. That matches how I work. I’ll tell you honestly whether your system needs repair or replacement, and I’ll give you the same upfront pricing here as I do in Kingfisher. 4.8 stars from 276 reviews, and every one of those customers got a straight answer.
I first drove out to Loyal on a service call sometime in the 1980s. Back then there was a grocery store and cafe in town, and if you lived in Loyal, you had a key to it. You had an account. You walked in whenever you needed something, took what you needed, wrote it down. Nobody watching, nobody checking. I met the owners. Best sandwiches I can remember from that time. That is the kind of community Loyal is. Seventy-one people who trust each other enough to hand out keys to the store. The town changed its name from Kiel to Loyal in 1917 to prove their patriotism, and that sense of commitment is still the culture out there. When I get called out to Loyal on a service call, I am not going to a job. I am going to a neighbor.
