Geothermal Heat Pumps in Enid, Oklahoma — OG&E Rebate $1,000/ton | Best Soil in the State

Geothermal Heat Pumps in Enid, Oklahoma

Enid is about 35 miles north of Kingfisher, and I’ve been doing work up there for years. Garfield County has some of the best geothermal soil conditions in the state — deep red clay that holds moisture and transfers heat better than most soils I work with. Add OG&E’s rebate program and a system that saves $500-$1,200 a year on energy, and the numbers make a compelling case. I’m Dave Hartzell — IGSHPA Accredited geothermal contractor, ClimateMaster GeoElite Dealer.

Why Geothermal Makes Sense in Enid

Enid homes often carry high heating costs — north of I-40, the winters are colder and the heating season runs longer. An air-source heat pump loses efficiency when temps drop below freezing; a geothermal system doesn’t have that problem. It pulls heat from the ground at 55-60°F regardless of what the air temperature is. Same efficiency in January as in October. And in summer, it rejects heat to that same 55-60°F ground — far more efficient than rejecting heat to 100-degree Oklahoma air.

Ground Conditions Around Enid — Among the Best in Oklahoma

Garfield County is classic Renfrow-Crisfield red clay. That soil series holds moisture exceptionally well — which is exactly what you want in a ground loop. Wet soil equals high thermal conductivity equals shorter loop fields equals lower installation costs. Most Enid properties are strong candidates for horizontal closed-loop trenching. Larger rural lots around Enid are especially well-suited. If soil conditions are ever different than expected, I design accordingly — vertical bore drilling is always available.

OG&E Geothermal Rebate for Enid Customers

OG&E offers a $1,000/ton rebate for qualifying geothermal installations in their service territory — and most of Enid is OG&E territory. On a 3-ton ClimateMaster Tranquility 30, that’s $3,000 back. On a 4-ton system: $4,000. On a 5-ton: $5,000. The Tranquility 30 is ENERGY STAR certified and qualifies under OG&E’s program. Contact OG&E at rebates@oge.com or 877-898-1759. I handle the rebate paperwork — you just need to let me know you’re an OG&E customer when we do the estimate.

The System We Install: ClimateMaster Tranquility 30

Every geothermal installation I do uses the ClimateMaster Tranquility 30 — a two-stage scroll compressor system with variable water flow (vFlow technology), iGate DXM2 communicating controls, and R-454B low-GWP refrigerant. It’s ENERGY STAR certified, fully contained indoors (no outdoor condenser to hail-damage or freeze), and warrantied for 10 years on parts and labor from the manufacturer.

I’m a ClimateMaster GeoElite Dealer — one of a small number of contractors in Oklahoma with this certification. It means I have direct access to factory training, technical support, and warranty processing. It also means I’m accountable to ClimateMaster’s quality standards on every install.

The other contractors serving Enid — American Refrigeration and Slater Mechanical — are solid American Standard dealers for conventional HVAC, but neither specializes in geothermal. I hold IGSHPA Accreditation for geothermal installation and am the ClimateMaster GeoElite Dealer for this market. If geothermal is your goal, there’s no closer specialist.

Ground Loop Options for Enid Properties

  • Horizontal closed loop — Trenches at 5-6 feet depth, 400-500 feet of loop per ton. Best for properties with adequate yard space. Lowest installation cost.
  • Vertical bore — Bores drilled 200-300 feet deep per ton. Smaller surface footprint. Right choice for tighter lots or landscaped yards where trenching isn’t practical.
  • Pond/lake loop — If you have water access, a submerged loop is often the most cost-effective option. Less excavation, excellent heat exchange.

I evaluate each property and recommend the loop configuration that fits the site. No one-size-fits-all approach.
