Low loop flow means the geothermal heat pump is not getting the water or loop-fluid movement it expects. The cause might be air in the loop, a weak pump, a closed or restricted valve, a flow-center problem, a pressure problem, or a control/sensor issue.
Short flow and short ground are not the same problem. What an undersized loop field looks like covers the one that no repair fixes.
Why it happens
- The loop is the heat exchanger for the system. In cooling, it carries heat out of the home. In heating, it brings heat back from the ground loop.
