Heat Pump Rebates in Oklahoma — 2026 Guide
I get asked about this on every heat pump estimate I run. The honest answer for 2026: the federal tax credit expired, but Oklahoma utility rebates are still very much alive — and for the right system in the right utility territory, they cut thousands off the real cost. Here’s exactly what’s available, who qualifies, and what paperwork you’ll need.
Federal tax credit update: The Section 25C air-source heat pump credit (30%, up to $2,000) expired December 31, 2025. It is not available for 2026 installations. If you installed a qualifying system in 2024 or 2025 and have unused credit, the carryforward rules may still apply — talk to your tax preparer. Oklahoma utility rebates remain fully active and are the main incentive story for 2026.

OMPA WISE Program — Kingfisher City & Other Municipal Utilities
If you buy electric from the City of Kingfisher (KPWA), you are an OMPA member — and that means you qualify for the WISE (Ways I Save Electricity) rebate program. These are among the best per-ton air-source rebates in our area, and the geothermal numbers are outstanding.
Kingfisher city electric customers (KPWA): Call city hall at (405) 375-3705 to confirm your address is in the WISE program and to get the rebate form. I handle all the paperwork on my end — AHRI cert, invoice, contractor agreement.
| System Type | Efficiency | Rebate | Example (3-ton) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Residential Air Source HP | SEER2 16.20 (min) | $175/ton | $525 |
| Residential Air Source HP | SEER2 17.05 | $200/ton | $600 |

| Geothermal (replacement) | EER2 16.36+ | $250/ton | $750 |
WISE is administered by the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA). Rebates are paid to the building owner (or builder on spec homes) after a post-inspection by city or OMPA staff. Submit forms and invoice within 90 days of installation. One contractor agreement per city required — Hartzell’s handles that.
Other OMPA member cities in the area may also participate. Program info: ompa.com/programs/wise-rebate-program/ | wise@ompa.com
Geothermal Heat Pump Rebates — Much Larger Numbers
If you’re considering geothermal, the rebate picture is significantly better. CKenergy’s $2,000/ton program (up to $24,000) is one of the most generous in the country. A 3-ton system in CKenergy territory gets $6,000 back — before any other incentive stacking.

HEEHRA — Coming to Oklahoma, Not Here Yet
The High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Act (HEEHRA) program will eventually offer point-of-sale rebates of up to $8,000 for a qualifying heat pump — with the largest rebates going to income-qualified households. As of early 2026, Oklahoma has not yet launched this program. When it does, it could stack on top of utility rebates.
Watch okcommerce.gov for the Oklahoma launch announcement. When it goes live, income-qualified households may receive up to $8,000 toward a heat pump, $1,750 toward a heat pump water heater, and $4,000 for electrical panel upgrades — with full coverage for low-income households.
What Documents You’ll Need

Heat Pump Rebate Questions
Is the federal heat pump tax credit still available in 2026?
No. The Section 25C energy efficiency credit for air-source heat pumps expired December 31, 2025. It is not available for systems installed in 2026. If you installed a qualifying system in 2024 or 2025 and have unused credit from those years, carryforward may still apply — talk to your tax preparer. Oklahoma utility rebates remain fully active and are a better financial story for 2026 anyway.
What OG&E rebates are available for heat pumps right now?
OG&E offers $1,500 per unit for qualifying ENERGY STAR heat pump installations, up to $3,000 (2 units per year). Your home must be at least 10 years old. Contact OG&E at rebates@oge.com or 877-898-1759 to verify current program availability and submit your application within 90 days of installation.
Can I stack a utility rebate with other incentives?
Yes, in most cases. Utility rebates can stack with each other if multiple programs apply, and they will stack with HEEHRA when that program launches in Oklahoma. The expired 25C federal credit is not available for 2026 installations.
When will HEEHRA be available in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma has not yet launched the HEEHRA program as of early 2026. Watch okcommerce.gov for the announcement. When it does launch, income-qualified households may receive up to $8,000 toward a qualifying heat pump at the point of sale — meaning the rebate comes off the price upfront, not as a tax credit. I’ll update this page when the program goes live.
Do heat pump rebates apply to mini-splits?
It depends on the utility. OEC includes ductless mini-splits in their tiered per-ton rebate structure. OG&E programs vary — the system must meet ENERGY STAR and SEER2/HSPF2 efficiency requirements. As a Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer, the equipment I install is ENERGY STAR certified and meets the efficiency thresholds for programs that include mini-splits. Call 405-375-4822 and I can tell you specifically what’s available for your address.
