A thermostat is a small part with a big job. I see a lot of systems that aren’t running right because of a misconfigured or failing thermostat — not a bad compressor. We install and program all major brands, handle C-wire adapter installations, and make sure your thermostat is matched to your specific system.

About C-Wire Requirements
Many smart thermostats require a common (C) wire for continuous 24V power. Older homes often don’t have one run. We can install a C-wire adapter at the furnace or air handler that uses existing wiring, so you don’t have to run new wire through finished walls. This typically adds $40–$60 to the installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does thermostat installation cost?
Thermostat installation is typically $89–$149 in labor, depending on wiring complexity. Smart thermostats range from $79 (basic) to $249 (Ecobee, Google Nest). If a C-wire adapter is needed, add $40–$60. Thermostats provided by the homeowner are installed at the same labor rate.
Does my smart thermostat need a C-wire?
Most modern smart thermostats — Ecobee, Google Nest, Honeywell T6/T9 — require a C-wire for continuous power. Some older homes don\’t have one. We install a C-wire adapter at the air handler using your existing wiring in most cases.
Can you program my new thermostat for me?
Yes. We set up schedules, connect to your Wi-Fi, pair the app on your phone, and configure system type (heat pump, gas furnace, dual-fuel) correctly. Incorrect system type settings are one of the most common causes of new thermostat problems.
My thermostat display is blank — is it broken?
A blank display is usually a tripped breaker, a blown fuse on the control board, or a loose R-wire connection — not a dead thermostat. We diagnose the root cause before recommending replacement.
Will a Nest or Ecobee work with my Trane system?
It depends on your system. Standard single-stage and two-stage Trane systems can work with Nest or Ecobee, but you may need a relay panel for proper operation. Communicating systems like the Trane XV18 are designed to work with the Trane ComfortLink thermostat — a third-party stat won’t access the full diagnostic and reporting features. I’ll check your wiring before recommending anything. Call 405-375-4822 and I’ll tell you straight.
Does OG&E offer a rebate on smart thermostats?
Yes — OG&E offers a $50 rebate for installing an ENERGY STAR certified smart thermostat. Small but real, and it stacks with any other OG&E rebates on your system. I handle the install, you apply for the rebate through OG&E after qualification.
What is the Trane ComfortLink thermostat and do I need it?
The Trane ComfortLink XL824 and XL1050 are communicating thermostats that talk directly to your Trane equipment. They report real-time system data, flag issues before they become breakdowns, and connect to the Trane Home app for remote control. If you have a Trane XV18 or other communicating system, the ComfortLink is what gets you the full 12-year warranty coverage and diagnostic capability. It comes included with Tiers 3–5 of our new system installs.
How much will a smart thermostat actually save me?
National averages show about 8% on heating and cooling bills. In Oklahoma with 5+ months of heavy AC, that can be $30 to $50 a year depending on your home size and current system. The bigger win is comfort — scheduling, geofencing, and remote control so your house is the right temperature when you get home without running the system all day. The OG&E $50 rebate covers part of the upfront cost right away.
Can you install and set it up for me?
Yes — and I’d recommend it for communicating systems especially. A dealer-installed thermostat on a new Trane system keeps your warranty intact and I configure it properly before I leave. I also show you the app so you know how to use it. That live walkthrough is worth more than any YouTube tutorial.
