CKenergy Geothermal Rebate 2026: Oklahoma Guide

If you’re a CKenergy Electric Cooperative member in central Oklahoma, 2026 may be the best time in years to set up geothermal, and it has nothing to do with federal tax credits. CKenergy now offers $2,000 per ton of geothermal capacity, up to $24,000 per setup. For a typical 3-ton place, that’s $6,000 back. For a 4-ton unit, $8,000.

Why This Matters Now, The Federal Credit Is Gone

The federal IRS Section 25D geothermal tax credit expired December 31, 2025. New geothermal setups in 2026 do not qualify.

Here’s the interesting thing: for CKenergy members in the Kingfisher area, the co-op rebate now exceeds what most homeowners were getting from the federal credit. The 30% federal credit on a $20,000 geothermal job was $6,000. The CKenergy rebate on a 3-ton unit is also $6,000, and it comes as a bill credit rather than a tax credit (meaning you get the benefit regardless of your tax situation).

Who Qualifies

  • You must be a CKenergy Electric Cooperative member (not OG&E, not PSO)
  • CKenergy serves 10 counties in western/central Oklahoma, Kingfisher, Blaine, Caddo, Grady, Comanche, Kiowa, Washita, Custer, Dewey, and Roger Mills counties
  • The geothermal equipment must be set up by a qualified contractor (Hartzell’s is a licensed geothermal installer)
  • Setup must be sized correctly by AHRI-rated equipment
  • Documentation required: AHRI certificate, contractor license, IGSHPA installer credentials, and completed rebate application

What Hartzell’s Does to Process Your Rebate

Rebate paperwork is one of the most common places this process breaks down. Homeowners who hire unqualified installers or contractors without the required credentials often lose the rebate entirely. Here’s what I provide:

  • AHRI performance certificatedocuments the system’s rated efficiency and capacity
  • Oklahoma contractor license numberCKenergy requires a licensed contractor
  • IGSHPA Accredited Installer certificationDave Hartzell is IGSHPA accredited, one of very few in Oklahoma
  • Completed rebate applicationI fill this out and submit with you
  • Installation documentationloop design records, system commissioning data

Real Price Example: 3-Ton Geothermal in Kingfisher

Typical 3-ton horizontal loop geothermal installation (central Oklahoma):

Installed charge (equipment + loop + labor) $18,000-$24,000
CKenergy rebate (3 ton × $2,000) − $6,000
Financing available (if needed) Synchrony, Wells Fargo, Wisetack
Net cost after rebate $12,000-$18,000

Annual energy savings of $800-$1,800/year are common for Oklahoma homes switching from a gas+AC combo. Payback periods of 8-15 years are typical at current CKenergy rates.

How to Get Started

The geothermal installation process starts with a free in-home assessment. Dave or a senior tech will:

  1. Confirm your property is on CKenergy call
  2. Walk your lot to assess loop field options (horizontal, vertical, or pond)
  3. Calculate the correct system size using a Manual J load calculation
  4. Quote the complete installed cost and expected rebate amount
  5. Walk you through financing options if needed

Frequently Asked Questions

Does CKenergy offer a geothermal rebate in 2026?

Yes. CKenergy’s geothermal rebate is active for 2026 at $2,000 per ton with a $24,000 cap. It’s one of the strongest co-op geo rebates in Oklahoma. I file all the paperwork for you when I install.

How much can I get from CKenergy for a geothermal install?

A typical 4-ton residential geothermal install nets you $8,000 from CKenergy. A 6-ton home gets $12,000. The cap is $24,000, so 12 tons or larger geothermal projects max out. Call me at 405-375-4822 and I’ll size your system and show you the exact rebate number.

Which counties qualify for the CKenergy geothermal rebate?

CKenergy serves 10 counties including Blaine, Canadian, Custer, Dewey, and several others. Kingfisher County is NOT in CKenergy territory, that’s Cimarron Electric or KPWA. If you’re in Watonga, Geary, Hinton, Calumet, Weatherford, or Thomas, you’re CKenergy.

Do I have to use a specific contractor for the CKenergy rebate?

CKenergy requires an IGSHPA-accredited geothermal installer. I’m IGSHPA Accredited, ClimateMaster GeoElite, and I’ve been installing geothermal in Central Oklahoma for over 15 years. I handle the rebate paperwork and submit it to CKenergy directly.

Can I stack the CKenergy rebate with other incentives?

Oklahoma utility rebates can sometimes stack with OG&E or other co-op programs depending on where you fall. The federal 25D geothermal tax credit expired December 31, 2025, so don’t count on that. The good news: CKenergy alone makes geothermal pencil out at a 7 to 10 year payback in my climate.
