The City of Watonga needed a commercial rooftop unit replaced on one of its buildings.
Straightforward job, no drama: a 7.5-ton York 12.2 SEER package unit swapped in for the old
one, crane-lifted onto the roof, wired in, and running before we left.
Total job ran September 4 through September 8, 2026, in Blaine County. Juan Penaran and
Aaron Villa did the hands-on work with me. Tony’s Pump and Supply handled the lift, same as they do for
a lot of our commercial swaps, local people working for local people.
Getting the new unit up
A 7.5-ton package unit is not something two guys carry up a ladder. Tony’s Pump and Supply rigged it
and lifted it straight off the trailer and onto the roof, one clean pick. That is the routine
for anything this size, whether it is a City building, a restaurant, or a grain elevator
office. If your rooftop unit needs a crane, that is a normal part of a commercial job, not a
complication.
Once it landed, Juan wired in the controls and disconnects while Aaron and I squared away
the rest of the setup. Straight commercial changeout, done inside the scheduled window, unit
running before we packed up.
