An Okarche AC quit in June: the exact Trane system I put in, and the warranty in plain words

The call came in on June 22, 2026: the air conditioner at a place a little west of Okarche was not working. It went on the schedule as a regular AC diagnostic, and it ended as a full system replacement. The new system went in the next day, June 23.

The exact equipment

This was my T3 Priority Comfort package, a 4-ton Trane XR15 cooling system with a two-stage gas furnace:

• Air conditioner: Trane 5TTR5 (XR15), 4 ton. Up to 15 SEER2, two-stage Climatuff compressor, R-454B refrigerant.
• Gas furnace: Trane S8X1. 80% AFUE, 80,000 BTU input, two-stage with an ECM blower.
• Evaporator coil: Trane 5PXC, built for R-454B.
• Thermostat: Trane TCONT302AS42DA, programmable, 4 heat and 2 cool stages, 5 inch screen.
• Equipment pad, transitions and a drain safety switch. Refrigerant charged on site, with start-up and testing.

Two-stage cooling runs on the low stage most of the time, which is quieter and pulls more humidity out of the house than a single-stage unit that is either all the way on or off.

The warranty, in plain words

• 10-year parts on the outdoor unit, as long as it is registered with Trane within 60 days of install. This one was registered, and the registration number is on the job record.
• 10-year parts on the furnace.
• 20-year warranty on the furnace heat exchanger.
• Labor coverage from me, as written on your contract. Extended labor plans of 2, 5, 10 or 12 years are available if you want them.
• A 1-year tune-up plan comes with the system: one cooling check and clean and one heating check and clean, with priority scheduling. The fall visit for this house is already on the calendar for October.

The registration step matters. If a Trane unit is not registered within 60 days, the longer registered warranty terms do not apply.

What I will not claim

The job record does not spell out which part failed on the old unit, and there are no start-up readings written on it, so I am not going to invent either one. I am also not going to tell you what this system saves on a power bill. What the record does show is the complaint, the exact equipment, the warranty terms, and a follow-up visit already booked.
