Gas Line Requirements
This is where a lot of tankless installations go wrong. A standard storage water heater uses a 1/2-inch gas line at relatively low BTU. A whole-house tankless unit needs 1-inch or larger gas supply at 150,000 BTU or more. If your existing line isn’t adequate, I’ll tell you upfront what gas line work is required and include it in the quote.
