The Trane failures I see most in Oklahoma
Central Oklahoma is hard on equipment: 100-degree summers run the air conditioner hard from May through October, and cold snaps put furnaces and heat pumps to work all winter. These are the failures I see most on Trane equipment here.

My Trane is making a noise but still running. Should I call now?
Yes. Squealing is usually a bearing, grinding means something is contacting that should not, banging at startup is often a loose part or a failing compressor. A rattling panel is minor. Describe it when you call.
How long do Trane systems last in Oklahoma?
Well-maintained Trane air conditioners and heat pumps last 12 to 18 years here, furnaces often 18 to 25. Annual maintenance is the biggest factor.
When does replacement make more sense?
When the repair tops half the replacement cost on a system over 10 years old. A compressor on a 14-year-old R-22 Trane is a replacement conversation. A capacitor on a 5-year-old XV18: repair it.
